United picked up a deserved win at Chinnor on Bank Holiday Monday; the three points meant Woodley started the season with consecutive victories for the first time since the 2010/11 season.
The hosts had a few half chances in the early stages before United took a grip on the game. A Greg Beckett cross from the left was cleared to Jake Nicholls who shot over.
Woodley were moving the ball around well, the movement from the forwards was causing Chinnor all kinds of problems. A fantastic move involving half the team ended with Charlie Oakley teeing up Beckett who narrowly missed to the left from twenty five yards.
More pressure followed; Danny Horscroft hit the right post from a tight angle before United took the lead. Abdul Kamara picked up a Horscroft through ball and slotted home from just inside the box. Moments later Ben Taunton in the home goal saved well from Oakley.
Half way through the half saw the home side create their first meaningful chance. Patrick Buston showed good pace to race clear of the Woodley defence before firing a hard shot at Alex Reed who parried clear.
The home side were growing into the game; Chinnor's Dan Hatton was robbed by a fantastic tackle by Nicholls on the edge of the box. Reed then pulled off a decent stop diving to his left to thwart John McMahon.
United had the last chance of the half when Oakley shot over.
HT Chinnor 0-1 Woodley United
The first ten minutes after the break were all Woodley. They were dominating possession and looking dangerous in the final third.
All the pressure looked like it had paid off when Oakley scored; however it was ruled out for offside.
It was then Chinnor's turn to have a goal disallowed when Buston netted. The home side were looking dangerous on the counter; a last ditch tackle by Luke Turner on Buston as he was about to shoot kept United's lead intact.
After weathering the pressure, Woodley pressed forward with Horscroft integral in creating chances. The midfielder sent Oakley clear who saw his shot well saved by Taunton.
Just past the hour, United made their first change when Danny Greenwood replaced Abdul Kamara. This saw man of the match Joe Barley partner Nicholls in centre midfield and Greenwood take over from Barley at right back.
A minute after the change saw Woodley double their lead when Oakley lobbed Taunton after picking up a Horscroft pass.
Looking for an immediate response, a McMahon shot from the right was gathered by Reed at the second attempt. Reed then saved from close range to deny the same player.
With ten minutes to go, United made another change; Charlie Baines came on for Teddy Thomas. Then in added time made their final substitution when Oakley was replaced by Tim Green.
Deep into injury time the hosts got a consolation in bizarre circumstances when a long ball from the back saw confusion between Reed and the defence. The miscommunication saw centre back Idris Kamara inadvertently put into his own net.

After the game I chatted to man of the match Joe Barley
'I started the game at centre back but moved to right back as I was struggling against their big striker. Even though we like to play out from the back, playing full back gave me even more licence to look for feet and I thought I linked up well with Teddy down the right.'
'When Abdul came off I moved into midfield and formed a good partnership with Jake Nicholls in front of the back four. We were able to control the game and protect the defence against a very physical and strong team and could have won by three or four.'
