A competitive game sees the Amersham complete the double over Woodley.

Following a run of three postponed games, United returned to action at league leaders Amersham Town and will look back on a match were two set pieces conceded and a failure to convert chances taken was the difference in a match where the teams were otherwise even.

United kicked off and created the opening chance within two minutes when Alex Londors fly kick found John Openibo but the forward failed to take the opportunity.

Despite their positive start the visitors fell behind in the eleventh minute. Good play by the division’s leading scorer Jake Tabor saw him win the ball in midfield, attack the right hand side of United’s penalty area before crossing the ball low to the oncoming unmarked Louis Stead to steer a shot inside Londors’ right hand post.

Buoyed by the goal Amersham enjoyed a period of possession with Woodley having one half chance when the ball was played forward to Alex Donville but as he prepared to control the ball and shoot a defender recovered ground to block the attempt and clear the ball.

As the game enter the half hour mark United again looked dangerous going forward. Donville passed to Connor Richardson on the left wing but the wingers low cross was cleared to be followed shortly afterwards by home keeper Ryan Lehane parring a shot towards Richardson which the Woodley played was unable to capitalise upon.

This good spell was undone in the thirty fourth minute when Mo Davies was adjudged to have impeded Tabor in the penalty area, who took the kick shooting past to Londors right.

Four minutes later United reduced the hosts lead when Davies free kick fell to Openibo whose shot on the turn was deflected for a corner kick. Suckling’s in swinging kick was met by Josh Nwokobia and turned into the net. Amersham defended two Richardson crosses late in the half to retain the lead as the match went into half time.

The first goal scoring chance after the restart fell to Tabor on the hour who dragged his shot wide of Londors’ right post. This was followed two minutes later when Woodley created its best chance to level. The ball was cleared to Suckling on the right who ran and passed to Openibo who in turn pass low into the host’s penalty area to Donville who put a shot over the cross bar.

Amersham’s two goal lead was restored in the sixty nineth minute when Woodley failed to clear a free kick into its penalty area which saw the ball fall to Sidney Gueye whose shot was deflected pass Londors and into the net.

The seventy fifth minute saw Woodley reduced to ten men when Londors was dismissed for a foul when attempting to clear the ball outside his penalty area. Mackenzie Creech took over in goal and appear from a shot from the resulting free kick was not troubled by the home team whereas Woodley caused the hosts problems. However, the best goalscoring chance came eleven minutes from full time when Openibo failed to connect with Richardson’s header across the goal area.

Londors, Abu-Essah (Maadini), Daves (Jeczalik), Creech, Coates, Nwokobia, Suckling (Shehu), Brandao (East), Openibo (DeBarros), Donville, Richardson
