Having seen their last three matches postponed due to waterlogged pitches, Woodley travelled to Uxbridge confident the game with Langley would proceed thanks to the 3G surface. However, while the month had changed it was the same weather with rain arriving just before kick off and falling for long periods throughout the game.
United kicked off with the first chance of the game falling to the hosts in the fifth minute. A free kick by Jack Torbert from the Langley left hand side evaded keeper Ryan Hudson to be headed across the Woodley goal and out of play for a goal kick.
United responded though debutant Jack Sharman who first passed to the returning from injury Rafa Brandao, whose shot was blocked for a throw in and then following a pass from Mo Davies, Sharman crossed into the home penalty area where Ryan Burke caught the ball under pressure from Jayvon Brown.
The thirteenth minute saw Hudson make a point blank save following a corner kick despite the match official subsequently awarding the visitors a free kick following a foul.
Woodley escaped a scare seven minutes later when Hudson called for the ball only for Davies to chest the ball goalwards before clearing the ball to safety. This was followed by Burke saving a header from Brown following good play involving Brandao and Sharman to cross to the Woodley forward.
The opening goal came in the twenty third minute. United cleared a corner only for Langley to regain possession and play a pass into Emmanuel Limpo who showed good skill to evade a challenge by Jakub Jeczalik to shoot pass Hudson. Shortly afterwards the same player was allowed space to shot straight at Hudson.
Despite Sharman shooting across goal following a pass from Brandao and Brandao heading wide from a Tafari Downes free kick United went into half time a goal behind.
Nine minutes into the restart Mackenzie Creech was fouled just outside the home penalty area. Downes took the resultant free kick striking the ball low which took a deflection on the greasy surface to leave Burke stranded as it entered the net to level the scores.
Instead of pushing forward following the goal United found themselves on the defensive and conceded a number of freekicks. It was from one of these in the seventy seventh minute that Langley scored the winning goal in controversial fashion.
Having been awarded a free kick and before Langley had placed the ball on the pitch Woodley called to the match officials to make a substitution. However, the referee proceed to blow his whistle to restart. With Woodley players unprepared the ball went to the unmarked Charlie Samuel who rounded Hudson to score. After a discussion between the referee and bench side assistant the goal was allowed to stand.
Despite the introduction of substitutes and a change to its formation Woodley was unable to score an equaliser with the best effort coming as the game entered stoppage time with a Davies free kick caught by Burke.
