High fives by British Airways as United stall after taking an early lead.

A bright start by Woodley turned into a miserable afternoon in a match that was end to end and where United failed to convert chances, British Airways punish the visitors’ mistakes.

United show their intent from the kick off and saw Tahir Carmichael’s free kick into the penalty area cleared for a corner in the second minute. Woodley took the lead when keeper Alex Londors long kick saw Sid Gbla out jump home keeper Ben Clargo, who was outside his penalty area and the ball fell to Luca Albanes to score into an unguarded net from twenty yards three minutes into his debut.

The lead was short lived when Reece Keary levelled from a direct free kick low and inside Londors left hand goalpost.

Both teams went on to exchange wide shots, British Airways twice by forward Mourad Jarraz and United twice Connor Sucking and once by Sid Gbla.

Woodley thought they had taken the lead in the twenty sixth minute when Carmichael’s corner kick was header onto a post by Josh Nwokobia with Sid Gbla tapping the rebound in from close range only for the goal to be disallowed for a foul.

It was BA who took the after thirty three minutes when left back Dan Boswell passed to James Barnett who ran to the United goal line before passing low into the penalty area for Frankie Major to tap home.

The second half saw Woodley start well, enjoying plenty of possession in the hosts’ half of the pitch and looking the most likely to score next. However, the promising work was undone in the sixty ninth minute when possession was lost on the edge of the British Airways penalty area and two passes saw Jarraz run between United’s centre backs before slotting pass Londors. Things became worse three minutes later when poor defensive play saw Woodley fail to clear the ball on a number of occasions allowing Charles John to score from close range.

Keeper Londors was penalised for a challenge in the eighty fourth minute which allowed Ben Tait to complete the scoring from the penalty spot. The match finished on a low note for Londors who was dismissed in the first minute of stoppage that saw Dan Watkiss done the gloves for the final few minutes of the match.

Londors, Watkiss, Davies (Beraima), Carmichael, Boamah (Massaquoi), Nwokobia, Albanese (Brandao), Monteiro (Manneh), Gbla, Suckling, Richardson (Kalejaiye)
