Youthful Suburban league members Hartley Wintney Reserves gave United a still test ahead of Tuesday’s Challenge cup opener against Langley.
Woodley start the stronger with Max Laschok shooting at the home keeper and Toby Briggs then seeing a shot blocked before Hartley, with their first attack opened the scoring after ten minutes when the lively number ten used his pace to good effect and fired inside Adam Thomson’s right hand post.
Undeterred United continued to enjoy positive possession and create chances before Laschok converted a cross by Sam Guze from the left to level the scores and twenty seven minutes.
Harry Hawkins and Ben Anderson were denied by the home stopper before Hartley’s number ten gave his team the half time lead when his shot two minutes from the break was deflected pass Thomson.
The only goal of the second half was Freddie Barron’s equaliser on seventy five minutes when good movement left him one on one with the keeper to slot home.
