United put in best pre-season showing so far

With the 19/20 kicking off in seven days time Woodley made it four wins in a row with a superb second half performance.

After a fairly even opening twenty minutes Woodcote took the lead courtesy of a great strike. Catching the ball sweetly the Woodcote player's volley flew into the top right corner from twenty five yards.

Six minutes after falling behind United had a great chance to level the game from the spot. An excellent Harry Swabey through ball found Max Laschok who was bought down just inside the box by the keeper. Laschok took the penalty but hit the left post.

Just past the half hour Woodley were back on level terms. A throw in on the left found Laschok who glided past a couple of defenders before placing into the far corner from just inside the box. A great individual goal!

United went ahead six minutes before the break when Swabey drilled into the bottom left corner after Freddie Barron had his shot saved.

The second half began with a really nice Woodley move. A one-two between debutant Kylo Atkinson and Laschok ended with the former having his well struck shot beaten out by the Woodcote keeper.

United increased their lead on fifty eight minutes when Laschok and Atkinson once again combined. A Laschok through ball sent Atkinson one on one; taking his time, he waited for the keeper to commit before dinking over him .

It was turning into a really one sided half. An excellent interception by Pele Hagger ten yards outside the Woodley area saw the left back run into space. Continuing his run, Hagger got to the edge of the Woodcote box before firing narrowly over.

United's passing was much improved in the second half with them able to split the defence at will. Mid way through the second half Toby Briggs pass found Ben Anderson who coolly went round the keeper and rolled in.

Woodcote's best chance of the half ended with Pete Davies doing well to keep out a well hit shot from the left.

It was five, on eighty two minutes when Atkinson smashed in from twenty five yards after a Swabey drive from similar distance was blocked.

The rout was completed two minutes from time when Atkinson got his third after getting on the end of a sublime Sam Guze pass.

A very good display from Woodley who face Hartley Wintney Reserves at the weekend before visiting Langley in their first competitive game of the season on Tuesday evening.
