United started their first mid week home game of the season at a good tempo. A header from a free kick was kept out by Holyport keeper Jake Quelch before a shot from the left was deflected wide of the right post.
This was followed up by a Chace Jewell delivery being played just in front of Liam Wilson and a Toby Briggs cross being cut out at the near post.
Holyport’s first sniff of goal came courtesy of a low right wing cross that Kris Dake couldn’t turn in from eight yards.
Woodley took the lead on nineteen minutes when Sam Guze netted from the right side of the box after Kai Parton-Edey had hit the post.
United had to make an early change on thirty minutes after a terrible tackle on Guze who limped off. He was replaced by Pele Hagger who slotted in at left back with debutant Sam Gore moving into midfield.
Two minutes after the change Woodley deservedly got a second courtesy of an unsaveable Parton-Edey free kick into the top right corner.
The visitors then immediately pulled one back when captain Chris De Franco scored from close range after a corner.
Five minutes before the break it was two each when a Matt Ensby cross-come-shot looped over Kyle Bradley and into the left corner.
The final chance of the half went to Holyport; Jonny Feaver’s vicious free kick went just wide of the right post.
HT Woodley United 2-2 Holyport
United came out after the restart determined to retake the lead. Parton-Edey just missed from twenty two yards, Briggs dragged a shot wide of the left post whilst a Wilson shot from the right was kept out by Quelch.
Just before the hour the hosts made their second change when Toby Edwards came on for Briggs. This saw Edwards play at right back and Freddie Barron move into an advanced role.
Edwards was immediately involved in an attack when he linked up with Wilson. Playing a one-two the sub put in a decent ball from the byline that was hacked clear.
Woodley were left to rue their promising start to the game as the away side ended the match on top. Fabian Driffill fired over from just inside the box before the same player saw his low shot just miss to the left after a good run.
With seventeen minutes left Holyport went ahead when a long range Feaver free kick beat Bradley.
United made their final change on eighty one minutes when Jewell made way for Alex Freeth.
The scoring was completed on eighty two minutes when Feaver got his second slotting into the right corner after a through ball.
Woodley’s final two efforts both failed to hit the target. A shot from the left missed before Jon Malone’s strike went wide of Quelch’s left post.
With the game entering injury time, Holyport sub George Alfie Adams hit the right post.
