An away game on a Thursday at the best team in the league was never going to be an easy task, Utd went into this game missing their normal defence and midfield with 6 key players unable to play on a Thursday night including the captain. We had two debutants and a player making a comeback from injury.
A lot of square pegs in round holes and Abingdon showed no mercy with a superb first-half display where they tore Utd apart time and time again, scored 4 and an own goal from John Mailer making it 5-0 at half time.
Utd improved in the second half despite losing the 6th goal straight from kick off, another midway through the half made it 7-0 which is where the scoring ended.
A night to forget for the Vets.
