Sam Guze continues his goal scoring run in resounding win.

The Royals made it three league games unbeaten with a comprehensive win at Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves and for the second successive Saturday scored five goals away from home.

Royals gave notice of intent as early as the eight minute when Jamie Smith found himself one on one with the home keeper Jack O’Keeffe who blocked the Woodley midfielder’s effort. However, three minutes later Sam Guze opened the scoring when his low cross from near the right corner flag evaded everyone and catching O’Keeffe out at the near post as the ball entered the net.

Toby Briggs should have extended the lead on seventeen minutes when he shot wide of an open goal having beaten three players in the penalty area while Adam King saw a free kick hit the underside of the cross bar bouncing back into play. However, Woodley’s pressure was rewarded when Liam Wilson’s header to Guze saw the Royal volley home from twenty yards.

Wilson then set Teddy Edwards up for the winger to see his shot blocked.

At this stage the hosts started to get back into the game and were awarded a penalty on thirty four minutes, following a push by Kieron Sengelow, which Max Laschok converted to complete the first half scoring.

Callum Samuel-Harman was introduced at the start of the second half adding pace to the left wing and this immediately paid dividends as with the home defence stretched Teddy Thomas cut in from the right to see his shot deflected past O’Keeffe four minutes into the half.

Wokingham & Emmbrook hit the base of Woodley’s James McKimm’s post before an Adam King corner was fired into the roof of the net at the far post from close range by Jack McCormack for his first goal in senior football.

Matt Booth wasted a chance to reduce the arrears on sixty five minutes with Liam Wilson breaking the offside to slot pass O’Keeffe with seventeen minutes remaining to give United a 5-1 lead.

Ben Broadhurst reduced the arrears in the seventy seventh minute direct from a free kick while Samuel-Harman was fouled with just the keeper to beat for a penalty kick six minute from time which O’Keeffe pushed away to his right from Wilson’s kick to deny the forward.
