Two goals conceded in quick succession see Ladies go out of cup at first hurdle.

This was a strange tie that sixty five minutes was evenly balanced but two goals in three minutes midway through the second half by Moneyfields saw the game run away from the home team.

United started in a positive manner with Amie Benton having the first chance shortly after kick off, while the visitors were quick on the counter attack and it was from one such move that they won a corner which Woodley keeper Carly Chilton did well to punch clear in the twelfth minute.

Five minutes later Benton again had an opportunity which went wide to be followed by Krystal Whyte beating the off side to steer her near post shot past Chilton on twenty minutes to open the scoring.

The half hour saw Woodley make the first of four substitutions due to injuries with Rebecca Gooch replacing Rosie Page-Smith and it was Gooch who saw her shot from a Mollie Haines cross cleared for a corner three minutes later while Benton then say the visitors’ keeper Zoe Paris block a shot in a one on one situation.

The equaliser eventually came in thirty seventh minute when Paris expected Freya Jenkins to pass but the Woodley winger chose to shoot instead and score.

However, the scores remained level for only a minute as Katie George beat Chilton at her left post from distance. The lead remained only one goal only after a double block on the home goal area initially by Chilton and then by Ruth Pearson who had only been on the pitch a minute following Clara Stringer’s injury.

Good work five minutes into the second half saw Benton pass to Eva Thomas whose first time cross from the right was headed home by Jenkins to level the score at two all.

As with the first half, Moneyfields quickly regained the lead when Pearson was penalised for a challenge that saw Kim Whitcombe’s penalty converted despite Chilton getting a fingertip to the shot.

Chiton made an outstanding save on fifty nine minutes but was beaten from close range six minutes later by Nicole Matthews after United failed to deal with a cross to the far left hand post and with United looking ragged by Moneyfields’ pace a fifth followed shortly by Paige Seeley.

Chilton tipped a shot onto her cross bar and saved well from Whyte while Pearson cleared on her goal line as Woodley did their best not to concede a sixth. However, this did happen after a good United spell that say Jenkins denied a hat trick, with three minutes remaining when Haines appeared to be fouled on the half way line when in possession only for Seeley to score on the break.

Chilton, Hunt, Wilkins, Stringer (Pearson), Ward (Tripp), Thomas, Haines (Penny), Scott, Page-Smith (Gooch), Benton (Lambourne), Jenkins
