Against the league leaders, who had only lost the once in the league, United while spending a lot of time on the defensive were coping well with the score goalless up to ten minutes before half time.
Bournemouth’s lively Jade Hockey had a goal disallowed for off side while Maddie Sawyer was denied by home keeper Katie Scadding for a corner, Rosie Page-Smith was denied by Scadding’s feet following a Sawyer pass and Sarah Thompson chose to pass when on the edge of the host’s penalty area when a shot may have been the better option with Scadding out of position.
The host’s opened the scoring in the thirty seventh minute through Meg Vella, following a series of quick passes and doubled the lead five minutes later through Maisy Smith.
The second half got off to the worse possible start for United when Eva Thomas put through her own goal in the first minute when challenging Hockey. Sawyer saw a shot saved but two goals in a five minute spell by Smith and Chloe Tape saw the host five goals ahead ten minutes after the restart and six up on the hour mark through Emma Davis.
While Woodley worked hard they did not look like scoring in the remaining half hour and the hosts completed the scoring through Rebecca Miles on eighty six minutes and a Tape penalty two minutes later following a foul by Paige Hunt.
