Sandhurst Town (1) 2 Woodley United (2) 3
Playing their second game in forty eight hours, United came from a goal down to win and move level on points with leaders PFC Victoria with a game in hand.
Woodley started sluggishly and found themselves a goal behind in the third minute when confusion in the visiting defence allowed Kaleb Joseph to score from close range into the right hand side netting of Joe Hill’s goal.
Buoyed by the goal the youthful Sandhurst team moved the ball quickly making it difficult for Woodley to mount any pressure of the home goal. Gradually, United’s midfield wrestled control of the match and started to string number of dangerous passes together and were rewarded with the equaliser in the twenty sixth minute when man of the match defender Eden Downes passed to Harvey Collins in the penalty and whose low shot took a deflection into the home net.
A minute before half time United had the lead when Ornildo Shehu showed good skill before passing the ball past home goalkeeper Bob Honey.
The second half was predominantly Woodley’s and it came as no surprise when they extended the lead in the seventy ninth minute when Jasper Stewart scored his first for the club when he steered Zach Goodman’s free kick into the net in front of the home club house.
Sandhurst reduced the deficit in the eighty fifth minute following Kieran Maylen being penalised for a challenge and Liam-Rhys Jenkins converted the resulting penalty kick. This set up a nervous final eleven minutes but apart from one home attempt narrowly going wide of Hill’s goal, Woodley secured the win.
