Chris Squire reflects on the 2015/16 season for his team

As the 2015/16 football league season has now finished, we've been asking managers within the club to share their thoughts on how the first season within WUFC has gone.

Our first article features the U14 Spitfires, managed by Chris Squire and assisted by Stuart Cripps.

Chris gives us his thoughts below:

"The team had a slow start to the season not helped with a number of players missing due to injury and school commitments. At the half way stage, the team found themselves 9th in the league of 11, having only beaten the sides in 8th, 10th and 11th. The second half of the season saw performances improve significantly although the results were a little inconsistent.

Highs were a game which almost held Mytchett to a draw with 10 boys for the whole game, a home draw with Ascot who at the time were top of the league, defeating a very good Reading Girls side (the eventual league winners) with a strong battling team performance but they saved their best performance for the last game, winning 3-1 at a strong Camberley side.

In the end the team finished 7th in the league and all looking forward to next season."
