Langley 3 (1) v Woodley United 1 (1)
It was a case of Deja Vue for Woodley as for the third successive game an early lead was taken while for the second successive match there was a first half sending off.
Langley moved the ball with pace on the 3G pitch and showed why they have yet to drop a point but United can be pleased with their performance especially in the second half.
The hosts kicked off and started well but the closest to the opening goal fell to United’s Louis Eade who from a Pele Hagger pass chipped Bob Honey in the home goal on for the ball to hit the underside of the cross bar and bounce back into play in the tenth minute.
The visitors did open the scoring fie minutes later when Andrew Clarke headed goalwards from Jackson Penhallurick’s corner to see Honey push the attempted clearance into his own net.
Geoge Hurneyman was called upon to make a double save followed by both keepers bravely saving at the feet of opponents. The hosts levelled in the twenty fourth minutes when a long ball split Woodley’s back line, Hurneyman parred the initial shot only for Bilai Sajid Ouardi to drive a shot through a crowd of players into the net. Two minutes later the same player shot wide of the post to be followed by another Eade lob that landed on the roof of Honey’s net with the goalkeeper out of position.
The game was flowing end to end with Nathan Mindomba hitting the side netting from a Hagger cross and Hurneyman catching Caiden Carty’s strike at the goal.
The visitors’ Harry Wardle received a second yellow card in the fourth minute of stoppage time, with the half ending with Woodley claiming a penalty for a challenge on Hagger, but the appeals were waived away by the referee.
The second half saw Hurneyman play as a sweeper / keeper that enabled Woodley to be positive in attack. However, the fifty eight minute saw the United keeper clear the ball outside his penalty area only for it to fall to Kyngston Whyte-Miller, who from thirty five yards shot at goal at scored off the inside of Hurneyman’s left hand post.
A third Langley goal and what proved the final score of the game was conceded five minutes later to Colin Chellembrom
Substitute Ellis Riley conceded a penalty kick which Hurneyman saved low to his left with eleven minutes remaining.
The first minute of second half added time saw Hagger’s goal bound header cleared for a corner to be followed three minutes later with Ross Barker hitting Honey’s right upright from a penalty kick.
