Funds raised for Sport in Mind

£1,500 has been raised for Berkshire based mental health charity ‘Sport in Mind’ following the ‘Bing vs Wright’ charity football match hosted by Woodley United FC.

The game took place during Mental Health Awareness Week helping to put the spotlight on Sport in Mind and mental health issues amongst young men.

A competitive match ended in victory for Team Wright by two goals to one in front of a great crowd boosted by the accompanying Woodley United presentation day. The most important winner however was Sport in Mind who will use the funds to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental health problems.

Sport in Mind founder Neil Harris said; “On behalf of everyone connected to Sport in Mind, I just want to offer my thanks to Nathan, Jack and everyone at Woodley FC for organising the fantastic match in aid of Sport in Mind at the weekend. It was a brilliant event to be involved with and we’re so grateful for the amount raised. The money raised will enable us to purchase some much needed equipment to provide more sports groups to help the recovery of local people experiencing mental health problems. Thank you everyone for supporting our little charity, we really do appreciate all your amazing efforts."

Bing vs Wright Joint Founder Nathan Bingham added; “It was a real team effort getting the match on and we are really thankful to everyone who played their part and all who came down to support. It is a fantastic total that can help make a difference in the local community.”

Other Joint Match Founder Jack Wright said; "It doesn't matter who won or lost today. All that mattered was gaining exposure for the incredible work Sport in Mind do. If we can help just one person then that is all we could ever ask for."
