Stoppage time winner for 1st team

A second half stoppage time goal by defender and man of the match Kasper Hok gave United the win in an entertaining match played out by both teams.

The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute from a Joe Reade penalty after the referee awarded the spot kick following a melee in the United goal area, following a long throw, seeing both teams trying to win the ball only for a Jets’ player to be fouled.

Undeterred by the setback Woodley adopted positive play and where denied an equaliser in the fourteenth minute when the visiting goalkeeper Ash Prassad dived to his right to parry Troy Williams’ header, from Harvey Collins’ free kick, clear for a corner kick.  From the Dylan Clark’s resulting corner kick, Prassad punched the ball upwards before diving at his far post to gather the loose ball.

Woodley levelled the scored in the twentieth minute, following a throw in into the Oxhey penalty area which Troy Williams flicked forward for Kaylum Barlow to run in front of a defender to head pass Prassad.

Nine minutes later Joe Hill saved well for Woodley from Luke Finnegan to be followed by James East’s timely block for a corner after thirty four minutes play.

Two minutes before half time Prassad caught under his crossbar a Collins’ free kick.

As in the previous match, the second half saw player of the month Nico Cammock, enjoy space on the left side causing the visiting defence problems with his runs and crosses.  The first of these was five minutes into the half when a low cross found Clark whose shot was well saved by Prassad.

Jets lost right back Emanuel Sfici to a shoulder injury in the sixty fifth minute with Woodley continuing to press forward in a match where it became increasingly likely that whoever scored the next goal would win.  This proved to be the case when in the third minute of stoppage time Cammock played the ball forward from the halfway line, to see a defender head it downwards where Hok fired his shot from the edge of the penalty area to the left of Prassad to secure the win.

Woodley comfortably saw out five more minutes play before full time was indicated by the referee.
