On a very windy day, Woodley visited Penn and Tylers Green to attempt to continue their good results and climb the table. It was an even start as the sides settled but with the considerable slope and wind behind them in the first half Town created the opening chance when Jamie Fairchild headed just wide from eight yards from a Craig Hiscock cross.
Fairchild then flicked a cross to Nick Edwards and his shot was well saved by the out stretched leg of Penn’s keeper John Harding.
Woodley looked the more dangerous with Luke Williams was threatening in attack. He got to the bye line and squared for Hiscock, who steered his shot into the far corner for the opening goal on ten minutes. Adam Jeffrey hit a good opportunity on the volley wide and Woodley had a number of free kicks in dangerous areas, but they were wasted on every occasion.
Harding was outstanding all match and his finest save tipped a goal bound effort onto the cross bar however, he was helpless when Williams out stripped the full back and calmly lifted the ball over the keeper to make it 2 – 0 on thirty five minutes.
Penn and Tylers took their turn to play with the stiff wind behind them and the slope and they wasted no time in pumping the ball forward into the final third. Oneal Garnes in the Woodley goal mopped up the majority of the long balls while Carl Davies ran onto a Fairchild flick but his shot was deflected wide when in a promising position.
The home side got back into the game as a near post flick hit the cross bar and landed at the feet of the centre half Dean Munday who scored from close range in the fifty fifth minute.
Within twenty seconds Woodley regained the two goal advantage. Substitute Jon Christopher found Davies with a straight ball over the top and last seasons top scorer showed his finishing qualities with a deft lob.
The game was pretty even as Woodley matched the elements and the home side until five minutes from time, when Penn and Tylers made it 3-2 when good work Rolly Knight got him into a scoring position and with a tight angle to work with; he lifted his shot over Garnes.
Woodley saw out the remaining moments comfortably with Jim Nightingale and Warren Baxter dealing with every long ball and are unbeaten in three now going into their next game at home to Farnborough Reserves.
