Richard Thomas, Carl Davies, Nick Edwards, Paul Wilder

Woodley looked to get back on track in their second home game of the season against Chinnor and started brightly with Nick Edwards starting and almost finishing a move that saw his header cleared off the line in the first minute.

Unfortunately Rob Morley was injured in the build up and Woodley were forced into an early change introducing Tom Williams.

Woodley looked hungry and pegged Chinnor back. Adam Jeffery shot wide, as did Williams but Woodley soon took the lead from a corner taken by Jeffrey. Defender Richard Thomas reacted first to get his second goal in as many games with a drilled shot on fifteen minutes.

Chinnor did little to threaten Ben Rose in goal with their best effort being three minutes later with a shot that blazed over the cross bar.

Town doubled the lead on the half hour when Carl Davies latched onto a through ball and his shot clipped the base of the post and went in.

With Chinnor still struggling to get into the game Woodley continued to press forward. Edwards had an acrobatic effort go wide, but he did get on the score sheet when the ball broke on the edge of the area form another Jeffrey corner and his shot travelled through a crowded penalty area to find the net.

Leading 3 - 0, Woodley looked to add to their lead throughout the second half but the pace dropped in the heat. Paul Wilder was introduced for Jeffery and offered a different dimension. Davies worked the wing well and clipped in a ball to the far post and Wilder somehow leaped to head the ball onto the cross bar and over.

Chinnor got a goal back with quarter of an hour remaining. In what looked like a blatant shove in the back of Warren Baxter in the lead up to the goal, Rose and John Breeney stopped playing to allow Gary Marshall to score.

Woodley then got back into the goals when Wilder headed brilliantly into the far corner from Davies cross to make it 4 – 1 with three minutes remaining.

Williams had one last chance when a defensive mix up saw the ball land at his feet, but with the keeper Ben Taunton, on the ground he could not get enough contact on the shot to score.

An encouraging performance from Woodley that they will hope to carry into next week’s game against Rayners Lane, who imposed a first defeat of the season leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook.

Rose, Varndell, Thomas (Breeney), Edwards, Nightingale, Baxter, Fairchild, Hiscock, Morley (Williams), Davies, Jeffrey (Wilder)
