Goals from Horscroft, Beckett and another Oakley hat-trick sees Woodley run out comfortable winners & guarantee at least third place in the league.

United completed their away fixtures on Saturday with a routine victory at basement side Wantage Town Reserves. The three points means they remain six points ahead of third placed Headington Amateurs with four games remaining.

The opening stages were played in the Wantage final third with Woodley looking to inflict damage on a side that had conceded over one hundred and twenty goals this season. Some excellent pressure from United winger Teddy Thomas in the home box saw United win possession; the ball broke to Charlie Oakley who forced Aaron Timbrell into the first of many saves.

Timbrell was once again called into action moments later when he denied Matt Jones who got up well to head Josh Drew's corner goalwards. More Woodley pressure followed; breaking from the half way line a one-two between Oakley and Jake Nicholls saw the former have a shot blocked.

Thirteen minutes in, Oakley opened the scoring when the hosts were caught playing out from the back. Drew rolled in United's leading scorer who found the right corner from the left side of the box.

After a lengthy stoppage due to a collision between Timbrell and Thomas, Woodley doubled their lead when Danny Horscroft fired home after more good play from the impressive Thomas.

The shots continued to rain down on the home goal. A nice ball from Jones to Drew saw the latter fizz in a cross from the left that Oakley threw himself at; connecting with a powerful diving header Timbrell did brilliantly to tip over.

Just before the half hour mark saw the away side increase their lead when Oakley found the left corner from another Thomas assist.

Wantage had a decent spell just before the break. James Webster gave Alex Reed his first save of the afternoon before a good run by Vladimir Potlog ended with him picking out Alex Bush who had a fierce shot blocked by United skipper Idris Kamara who caught the ball flush in the face.

It was Kamara who had the first shot after the break. Finding himself the furthest forward the Woodley centre back shot into the side netting from a Horscroft pass.

Oakley then shot over from twenty five yards before getting his hat trick after a perfectly weighted through ball from Jones. Going one on one with Timbrell, the Woodley forward slotted home from just inside the box.

United made a substitution on fifty nine minutes when Brad Hoy replaced Luke Turner.

Mid way through the half, Reed pulled off a very good stop saving a long range effort in the top right corner.

With twenty one minutes to go Woodley made a second change when Drew made way for Toby Briggs.

Briggs nearly made an immediate impact when he set up Horscroft who had an effort saved by Timbrell diving to his left.

United made their final substitution on seventy four minutes when Greg Beckett came on for Thomas.

The changes didn't disrupt Woodley's flow as Jones had a header cleared off the line before Beckett found the left corner from a Horscroft assist.

Despite only being on the pitch for four minutes Beckett was involved in more goal mouth action when he was bundled over in the box. Stepping up to take the resultant penalty the United forward had his effort saved by Timbrell in the right corner.

As the game wound down, Timbrell was once again called into action to save a curling Jones effort whilst Oakley shot over after getting on the end of a low Beckett cross.

The final shots of a match totally dominated by Woodley saw Beckett just miss to the left after Briggs showed good strength to shrug off his marker before a low Oakley effort missed to the right.
