Goals in stoppage time at the end of each half saw Holyport take all three points and leapfrog Henley Town to the top of the league table.
Town started the stronger but were punished on six minutes by Holyport’s first attack that saw them win a free kick close to the home team’s penalty area. Jonny Mason’s free kick was headed home by centre back Carl Reeves as Town were slow in advancing to catch their opponents off side.
Danny Isaiew had the ball in the net a minute later only to be given off side as they searched for the equaliser and kept Holyport’s lively attack quite until the final five minutes of the half when Dan Rapley became dangerous.
Warren Carter caught well under pressure from Nick Edwards as he jumped to meet a Jamie Fairchild cross, Isaiew saw his turn and shot headed clear and Dan Jewell header over from an Adam Jeffrey corner.
Having with held Town pressure, Rapley saw a shot go wide before being flagged offside. Holyport doubled the lead as the interval approached when Mason’s cross saw Arron Coleman win a header and react first to shoot from close range.
The second half was a scrappy affair with Holyport’s midfield controlling the game and it was not until Edwards scored on eighty minutes that Town started to move the ball freely. Luke Williams saw his first corner cleared for another corner kick which was headed goal ward by Jamie Fairchild for Edwards to poke home from close range.
Buoyed by the goal Town pressed and saw Carter handle a Sam Cripps shot but with the game now open and both sides pressing for the fourth goal Jewell was punished for a second yellow card late in the game. With Woodley exposed defensively Lee Jerrum shot wide before Steve Deverall’s low cross was converted by Sam Jones to secure the visitors the points.
