Despite the score-line the opening twenty five minutes were a close affair with United having to withstand Chalfont pressure with the dangerous winger Nick Little involved in much of Wasps play down their left flank.
The fifth minute saw Little’s claims for a penalty turned down when he fell to the ground from a Idris Kamara challenge while in the eleventh minute United had a fortunate escape when Alex Reed’s poor goal kick fell to a forward to put wide when one on one with the visiting keeper.
Despite the host’s pressure Jake Nicholls found space to run with the ball and pass to Charlie Oakley to side step Mark Sweeney in the Chalfont goal to open the scoring on fourteen minutes. Wasps continue to pressure United who did not threaten Reed again until Oakley shot wide after twenty seven minutes play.
However, Chalfont where were playing with a high defensive back line that was leaving space between itself and Reed and a minute late good skill by Josh Drew found Oakley who had time and space to run at Reed and double the visitors lead.
This goal ignited Woodley who enjoyed the remainder of the half that saw Greg Beckett have an effort cleared in the goal area and Danny Horscroft twice shooting wide.
The second half saw the home team start strongly but Reed was only called upon once when he caught well under pressure three minutes into the half but once Beckett had set Oakley up for his hat trick when he again rounded Sweeney on sixty three minutes Woodley relaxed and went on to score twice more in quick succession.
Sweeney was called upon to clear the ball outside his penalty area but the clearance fell to Beckett who calmly fired into an unguarded net from twenty yards after sixty eight minutes and three minutes later Oakley scored his fourth as Woodley played the ball from left back Luke Turner to Horscroft who in turn found Nicholls who passed along the face of the goal to find Oakey unmarked at the far post.
With nine minutes remaining Chalfont’s Garluwa Sandy became the his opponent to score a league goal against United this season as he beat Reed with a pacey shot to his near post.
With a straight sixth win, the team climbed to third in the league with the visit to second placed Headington Amateurs to look forward to next Saturday.
