Luke Williams, Danny Isaiew

Woodley and Farnborough Town Reserves drew 2 - 2 with all of the goals coming in a thrilling second half at Cherrywood Road. Woodley were denied victory with a last gasp equaliser as another defensive lapse cost the visitor all three points.

The first half saw an even contest with Farnborough having long-range efforts, with plenty of possession and Billy Gordon forcing a good save from the home keeper Jake Sommerville at his near post. Tom Williams fired just wide when well placed in the penalty area and Woodley looked threatening from the countless set pieces Farnborough afforded them.

The second half saw Farnborough grab hold of possession and look threatening without really testing Imran Cooke-Chowdhary in the Woodley goal. The opening goal came as Warren Baxter was adjudged to have felled his man right on the edge of the area and the resulting free kick was struck powerfully into the top corner by Luke King on sixty one minutes

Woodley shuffled their line up and the resigning, Adam Jeffery, was unfortunate not to get on the score sheet as his half volley crashed against the post and went straight into the grateful hands of the Sommerville. Eliot Whitehouse was introduced for his debut and he laid on the equaliser playing an inch perfect pass for Luke Williams to run through and round Sommerville on sixty five minutes.

It was Woodley who looked the likely winners at this stage as Farnborough were on the back foot. Danny Isaiew was brought on and he immediately made his presence felt making good runs to move the home defence around. It was Jeffery who created the second goal and he played in a dangerous cross that Isaiew nodded home with eleven minutes remaining, to open his account for the season.

A minute later Woodley should have killed the game as another great move saw Jeffery burst clear and when he looked to square for the unmarked Isaiew to surely tap home, the execution was poor and Sommerville cut out the pass. Farnborough took advantage and snatched a point as a free kick was poorly marked and King scored an easy headed goal at the far post.

Woodley now break from league action and go into the cup competitions with a BBFA Intermediate tie away at South Reading next Saturday.
