Woodley completed their away fixtures in the league on Saturday when they went to league leaders Penn & Tylers Green; and like last week they were on the end of a 3-0 defeat.
Right from the off Woodley were on the back foot. Centre back Brad Hoy cleared off the line. Penn took the lead on five minutes when a cross from the left was headed in by Dean Munday who got up well.
Four minutes later the hosts doubled their lead and once again it came from United's inability to clear a set piece. After picking up the ball just inside the box Adam Harman's looping shot found the top left corner.
When Woodley got into the Penn half they looked for the pace and trickery of Rupin Limbu. Picking up a pass from Conor Creegan the winger drove towards goal before missing to the right.
The home side continued to press; Chris Hurst saw his free kick cannon back off the right post. Mid way through the half Hurst did find the net when he tapped in from close range only to see the goal ruled out for offside.
More Penn pressure followed; Lee Thompson saw his shot from three yards saved by Woodley keeper Ben Hitchins. Thomspon then turned provider when he crossed for Hurst who chested the ball rather than heading it and Hitchins gathered.
The half ended with shots from both sides. Mark Ingram blocked an effort from Harman before Limbu narrowly missed to the right.
Penn & Tylers Green 2-0 Woodley United
The second half started slowly with Penn bossing possession but failing to cave out any meaningful chances. The nearest they got was a Hurst free kick that went into the wall.
On fifty six minutes and with their first shot on goal since the restart Harmen got his second. Playing a one-two just outside the box he picked up the ball and beat Hitchins with a shot into the left corner.
Penn were playing some really nice stuff and you could see why they were top of the league. A lovely flowing move ended with Thompson shooting over. The attempts continued to rain down on Hitchins goal; full back Jez West had to be at full stretch to clear off the line.
On seventy minutes Woodley made a change when Chris Burt replaced West.
With the game in its final stages Penn came within inches of getting a fourth when they hit the woodwork for a second time; Danny Jordan saw his shot hit the right post. Woodley were then grateful for another goal line clearance when Matt Brookling prevented Penn increasing their lead.
