Three goals in eleven minutes sting United

Woodley went into the game with Chalfont looking for their first goal in three games and their first league points since the start of the month. Right back Graham High was given his first start whilst Kris Hemmings made his first appearance of the season at centre back.

United nearly made the worst possible start, as after just ten seconds Chalfont winger Simon Dent raced clear on the right; fortunately for Woodley, keeper Harry Stiff bailed them out when he claimed the low cross.

Thirteen minutes gone and the hosts were on top. A counter by the home side ended with High blocking a Danny Gray effort from a tight angle on the left. Ten minutes later saw Chalfont go ahead when Gray turned home a ball from the right.

Looking for an immediate response, left back Matt Leigh got to the byline and fizzed a cross across the Chalfont box. Woodley pressed on; a Sam Skehan right wing cross was nicked off the foot of Rupin Limbu by Paul Hyde as the United winger was teeing up a volley.

Just past the half hour saw the hosts double their lead when a right wing cross was finished by Fred Tripp. Sixty seconds later and Woodley fell further behind when Tripp picked up a through ball and slotted past Stiff.

Five minutes before the break, Tripp nearly got his hat trick when his well executed volley clipped the top of the bar. At the other end, United got themselves back into the game when Limbu rolled into an empty net after Skehan saw his shot saved by Jamie Hill.

Before kicking off Woodley made a change. Due to a knee injury Stiff was replaced by Tim Green. This saw Hemmings go in goal, captain Conor Creegan drop into the centre of defence and Green join Fraser Mowat and Mark Ingram in central midfield.

United started the half with a purpose; Green headed over a Leigh cross at the near post. Then Hemmings pulled off a decent stop to deny Dent, the makeshift keeper then caught the rebound whilst prone on the floor!

Mid way through the half saw Woodley come within inches of further cutting the hosts' advantage when a Leigh free kick was headed against his own bar by a Chalfont defender. Woodley were now well on top; outplaying Chalfont in all areas of the pitch, with Ingram bossing the midfield.

On sixty eight minutes United made their second change when Pete Wareing came on for Mowat. With fifteen minutes to go Ryan Szram just missed to the right before making way for Adam King.

With eight minutes to go and with Woodley temporarily down to ten men as centre back Matt Brookling received treatment, the hosts put the game to bed when a superb through ball picked out Dent; holding off a strong challenge, the Chalfont winger finished coolly.

The score was harsh on United who had shown grit and determination since the restart. With the game into stoppage time, Limbu made the score more respectable with a sublime free kick into the top left corner from twenty five yards.
