Woodley went into their fourth consecutive away match looking for their first points of the new campaign and thanks to a resilient defensive display and a poor penalty came away from Didcot with a point.
The hosts created the game's first chance when a cross from the left was headed well wide by Jack Hollister. United are always a threat from set pieces thanks to Jordan Goddard's delivery and twice within minutes he whipped in consecutive corners that the home side were able to scramble clear.
Just past the ten minute mark and Woodley midfielder Simeon Blackwood-Odain was booked for a foul just outside the United box. The resultant free kick was cleared to Jonathan Eudell who blazed over; the same player then headed over at the back post from a Didcot corner .
Twenty minutes in and with Blackwood-Odain coming close to seeing red for a number of fouls, the decision was made to replace him with Conor Creegan. Woodley then had a let off when a slip in defence saw Eudell race clear; with two Didcot players bearing down on Dan Smith in the United goal, the Didcot forward chose to square to a teammate but overhit the pass.
At the other end, a Prince Alozie corner directly hit the bar; United winger Lemar Maycock got up well to win the header forcing Adam Spurrett into a good stop. Woodley then opened up the hosts with a flowing counter attack. Andres Rodriguez pinged a beautiful ball to Maycock who was unfortunate to see the ball take a strange bounce allowing Spurrett to clear to Pete Wareing whose shot was well blocked.
The half ended with several shots from the home side that either didn't find the target or were dealt with comfortably by Smith.
HT Didcot Town Reserves 0-0 Woodley United
Sixty seconds after the break saw United centre back Matt Brookling at full stretch to turn behind a dangerous Eudell cross.
The following twenty minutes were played without major incident. Didcot shading possession but neither side creating anything of note.
On sixty five minutes United made their second change, Wareing making way for Sam Skehan. Three minutes later Woodley made their final change when Sam Ellis came on for Alozie. United's first clear cut chance since the restart fell to Rodriguez who saw his controlled drive saved by Spurrett.
United were then thankful to Creegan to deny Eudell with a great tackle; since being introduced he had added much needed bite to the Woodley midfield. Ten minutes from time Didcot were presented with a golden chance to go ahead. The dangerous Eudell went down in the box under an Ollie Bridges tackle which saw the Woodley centre back cautioned. The resultant penalty by Aaron Gray lacked power and was straight at Smith.
The game ended with yellow cards for Rodriguez and Creegan and shots from both Skehan and Ellis blocked.
