Woodley Town picked up three points at Chalfont on Saturday after a dominating second half display.

The first chance of the game went to the home side, Mark Stack headed wide after finding space in the Town box. Up the other end Victor Marinez Murillo won a free kick on the right for Woodley. David Stevens' set piece was cleared at the near post which immediately saw Chalfont counter, a cross from the right came to nothing with two players waiting in the middle.

Just before the ten minute mark and a superb Stevens cross field ball found Doug Groves on the left wing; his centred pass found striker Steven Campbell who had two attempts charged down by the home defence. The ball then broke to Adam Cashin-Murray whose effort was deflected wide for a corner. David Stevens' set piece was nodded home by Groves to give the visitors the lead.

The goal settled Town who started to play some good stuff. First Campbell broke free down the left only to see his cross just evade Martinez Murillo at the back post then the former tested Jamie Hill in the Chalfont goal with an off balance shot. Town skipper Gary Smith then went into the book for a foul fifteen yards into the Town half.

Twenty seven minutes in and a Chalfont free kick was cleared to defender Daniel Gray who struck the ball well only to see his effort just go over. Moments later the game was all square. Michael Goddard won possession half way inside the Town half with a strong tackle; he passed to Mitchell McNulty who showed good strength before firing low into the bottom right corner. The equaliser rejuvenated the hosts who were by far the better team till the break.

Chalfont had several decent chances to take the lead in the following fifteen minutes. Town carelessly gave away possession in their own half, the ball found its way to McNulty whose crisp shot was saved well by Dan Smith in the Woodley goal. Minutes later McNulty had a golden opportunity to get his second. Turning superbly on the edge of the Woodley box, a piece of skill that took two Town defenders out of the game he found himself one on one with the Woodley keeper, rushing his chance slightly he shot straight at Smith who stood up to the shot well.

With the half winding down Town centre back Andres Rodriguez Gutirrez was alert to clear from practically his own goal line after another Smith save. That ended a half where Woodley struggled on a very boggy pitch.

Town made a change at the break. Michael Alleyne replaced David Stevens who departed due to a shoulder injury. Alleyne's introduction made a big difference to Town, adding much needed bite to the midfield.

The first chance since the restart went Chalfont's way; Groves showed good defensive awareness to block a shot after a corner was cleared to a yellow shirt on the edge of the Town box. On the fifty third minute Town made their second change. Seun Odusanya replaced Martinez Murillo who had had a quiet afternoon. Fifty five minutes in and Alleyne was booked after clashing with an opposing player as Town lined up a free kick.

Starting to dominate the game, Rodriguez Gutirrez expertly won possession before sending Groves clear in on the left. Chalfont keeper Hill had his near post covered and turned the ball behind. Minutes later Town retook the lead. Jordan Goddard's free kick was headed goalwards by Gary Smith, getting down well Hill pulled off a decent save only to see Cashin-Murray turn home the rebound.

On the hour mark Gary Smith pulled off the tackle of the match to deny McNulty. Woodley continued to create chances, sensing a third goal would seal the three points. Hill again kept his side in the game saving brilliantly after an Odusanya header took a nick off a defender following a Goddard corner from the right. Then Woodley right back Jon Malone showed good composure; picking up the ball on the half way line, he beat several men before finding Campbell whose shot from the right missed to the left.

The Town pressure was relentless, Hill again was in good form turning behind a powerful Goddard effort from twenty yards. Woodley then had a let-off when Chalfont sub Brandon Cumber saw his cross flash across the six yard box. More Woodley chances followed. First a Malone cross was tamely headed goalward by Cashin-Murray then Hill got down superbly to thwart Cashin-Murray after he was set up by Steven Campbell.

Ten minutes to go and Town made their final change. Ben Gonzalez made way for Matt Brookling who slotted in at right back with Malone moving further up the pitch. Woodley then came within inches of getting their third. Cashin-Murray put Groves in, doing everything right, he coolly rounded the goalie only to see his shot cleared off the line by Chalfont captain Ryan Sweales. The final chance of the game went to Woodley. With Hill beaten, Cashin-Murray saw his shot blocked by Frazer Eales three yards from the goal line.
