Woodley dominate large parts of the game but can only settle for a point

Town started with a change in formation. Playing two strikers, Josh Blackwood partnered Steven Campbell up front.

The visitors had a lot of the ball in the early stages; most of the first five minutes were played deep in the Town half. Woodley skipper Gary Smith won a crunching tackle on the edge of the box before scrambling clear from practically the goal line.

Six minutes in and Woodley took the lead with their first attack of the match. Josh Blackwood found space down the left wing and his cross was sliced into his own net by a Chinnor defender. The good fortune woke Town up, they started to play with more urgency and really took a grip of the game.

Seven minutes later they doubled their lead when a perfect lobbed through ball by central midfielder Michael Alleyne saw Blackwood go one on one with Ben Taunton in the Chinnor goal. Getting to the ball before the keeper he knocked it round him before showing good acceleration to catch up with the ball and turn it home from a tight angle.

The momentum had well and truly shifted Woodley's way and they pressed on looking for a third. A Chinnor defender did well to cut out a David Stevens' through ball; the resultant Blackwood corner was won at the near post by Campbell who couldn't direct his header goalwards. Continuing to create chances, a Stevens' effort ended up in the car park after receiving a pass from Adam Cashin-Murray.

Twenty four minutes in and Town were punished when Chinnor pulled one back. Dan Stone halved the scoreline following a set piece. Ten minutes before the break saw Alleyne square up to Ryan Daly. The former was lucky not to be booked after pushing the Chinnor forward. Looking to retain their two goal advantage, a nice Town move saw them work the ball left to right. The ball ended at the feet of Cashin-Murray who was denied by a decent tackle.

Taunton then did well to keep his team in the game when he first stopped a powerful Blackwood effort before turning behind an audacious chip by Doug Groves after the wide midfielder found space twenty yards from goal following a Stevens' corner. Up the other end, Woodley keeper Dan Smith got down well to save from Daly.

With the half winding down Town had two good opportunities to get their third goal. Both chances fell to Campbell. The first saw the striker pick up a lobbed pass from midfield; with Taunton off his line quickly, the forward saw his lofted effort just go over then the Chinnor goalie again showed good anticipation and speed to narrow the angle and block Campbell's effort.

These misses were to prove costly as the visitors equalised a minute before the break. Town left back Matt Molloy did fantastically to block a forceful shot on the Woodley goal line but unfortunately the ball was turned in by Stone after a cross from the right.

That ended a half, first five minutes aside, dominated by Town.

The second half started evenly with both sides creating half chances. Alleyne shot over from twenty five yards before Cashin-Murray saw his effort blocked by Alex Feaver after he picked up a long throw from from Dan Smith. The lively Daly then missed to the right after after a Chinnor counter attack.

Town were starting to get a little frustrated and were restricted to long range efforts. Another Alleyne shot nicked off a yellow shirt and went behind for a corner. The resultant Stevens' set piece was won at the back post by Matt Brookling but his attempt lacked power and was comfortably saved.

Just past the hour mark and the impressive Taunton pulled off the save of the game. Diving to his left he somehow managed to get a hand to a well hit Cashin-Murray strike and turn it behind for another Town corner. Chinnor were creating their share of chances too; first Jack Wright missed from the left side of the area, then an effort just missed to the right after Woodley could only clear to the edge of the box.

With the game entering its final twenty minutes Blackwood shot over from twenty yards then a beautiful Cashin-Murray cross whipped in from the right was cleared before David Stevens could get on the end of it. Ten minutes to go and a long ball from the back found Blackwood who saw his difficult chance narrowly miss to the right.

The visitors then had half chances to do what Town had done when the teams met earlier in the season and turn around a two goal deficit. Feaver shot tamely at Smith before the Woodley keeper saved smartly from Daly.

Town made their first change with seven minutes to go. Seun Odusanya replaced Alleyne; this saw Blackwood drop into midfield and Odusanya join Campbell up front. As the game entered injury time Blackwood was booked after a late tackle. The last two chances went Town's way. Cashin-Murray's back post header from a Groves cross was straight at Taunton before Stevens shot over.
