Six goals & a win are just the tonic!
By Mark Rozzier
United bring three game losing streak to an end in style.
Illness stricken United who were without four players from the previous Tuesday’s game and having a further three play while under the weather, gave themselves the perfect tonic scoring six goals in a Hellenic league game for the first time since April 2010.
From the kick off United were positive and dangerous with Liam Wilson twice having opportunities to open the scoring before Max Laschok found the net in the eight minute when Chinnor keeper Ben Taunton parried man of the match Harry Hawkins’ shot into the striker’s path.
Three minutes later Hawkins pass set Laschok free of the defence and he calmly slotted the ball pass the advancing keeper to double the lead.
After the quick fire start United relaxed and while never under any pressure from conceding did need Tom Bryant to push a long range shot away for a corner and for Joe Sissons to make a timely tackle in his own penalty area.
Sissons was replaced by Harry Swabey at half time and Swabey saw his strike disallowed for a player off side one minute into the restart. Not to be deflated United continued to press and the third came from Chace Jewell, with his third goal in five games, following a Wilson pass in the fifty seventh minute.
The Hawkins / Laschok paring connected again twelve minutes later with the striker lobbing the advancing Taunton to record his first hat-trick for Woodley to give the hosts a four goal lead.
Two minutes later the lead was five when Luke Axton-Hall headed the ball towards Wilson who showed deft skill to control the ball before rounding Taunton.
With a number of the home players beginning to tire Chinnor pulled a goal back in the seventh eight minute when Stuart Braun scored from close range. However, when Sam Wood found Wilson a minute later the Woodley forward drilled his shot pass Taunton to restore the five goal lead.
With only two subs and both having been used, United played the last ten minutes with ten players when Axton-Hall was forced off through injury and it was with five minutes from full time that Chinnor completed the day’s scoring through Richard Jewell.
