Five goals in twenty one minutes see United suffer biggest home defeat of the season

United bowed out of their second cup competition in a week on a bitterly cold Monday evening. Matching Windsor in the opening half an hour, Woodley never recovered from shipping three goals in the final fifteen minutes of the first half.

Despite having a lot of the ball in the opening stages, the best the visitors could muster was a miskick on the edge of the box and a cross that went into the side netting of debutant Chris Harris' goal.

The home side's first shot came courtesy of Danny Horscroft; his well hit free kick went into the Windsor wall with the rebound being struck well wide of the right post by the same player.

Twenty minutes in saw United presented with a fantastic chance to go ahead when a left wing cross found Owen Davies in acres of space twelve yards out. Taking a touch, the winger narrowly missed to the left with just the keeper to beat.

Woodley were having a lot of possession in the final two thirds but chances were few and far between. A run down the left ended with a cut-back that saw a fresh air shot from a good position.

Windsor took the lead on thirty four minutes in fortuitous circumstances when a long ball over the top saw a breakdown in communication between Harris and centre back Idris Kamara. The latter's header lacked power allowing Riccardo Cannon to nip in and prod goalwards; the ball hit the left post but fell to the feet of Nadir Shafi who couldn't miss.

Ninety seconds after the goal, Harris pulled off a fantastic double save. Diving to his left he palmed out a curling shot from eighteen yards; then showed superb reactions to get to his feet and keep out a point blank shot from Brad Pearce.

Eight minutes before the break the visitors doubled their lead when George Gould headed in a right wing corner completely unmarked at the back post.

A dreadful nine minutes was complete on forty three minutes when Windsor got a third. Jack Denton's shot from twenty five yards out was kept out by Harris. The rebound was crashed against the right post from a tight angle whilst the follow up to that was turned in by Matt Stockhill.

HT Woodley United 0-3 Windsor

Windsor started the second half brightly. Shafi saw a curling effort just miss to the right before Cannon found the right corner after a ball over the top despite strong protests for offside.

Looking to restore some credibility to the scoreline Toby Bridges, who was making his first start for United, had a shot blocked.

The scoring was complete on fifty five minutes when Windsor sub Adewale Oshilaja beat Harris with a crisp shot into the right corner.

Woodley made a change just before the hour when Haydon Richardson replaced Callum Samuel-Harman.

United were looking dangerous down the left with winger Greg Beckett and full back Carl Prestidge combining well. The former saw his shot miss to the right.

Turning provider Beckett saw his cross to Horscroft cut out by Hugo Sobte in the away goal.

The following fifteen minutes saw the game played in midfield with neither goalie tested.

With the game in its final ten minutes, a Bridges shot from distance forced Sobte into a comfortable save.

Windsor ended the game strongly. A shot from the right side of the box was turned behind whilst Harris denied Stockhill a second.
