A goal in each half by Charlie Oakley & Jake Nicholls sees United win at Royal Wootton Bassett & go into the third round.

United win at Hellenic Premier side and go into the next round of a cup they last played in in September.

The opening ten minutes were even with most of the play in midfield. Oakley had the game's first chance but saw his shot from outside the box blocked.

Royal Wootton Bassett's first shots came courtesy of Dale Richards and Steve Robertson. Richards missed to the left whilst Robertson clipped the top of the bar from twenty five yards.

On twenty minutes the game had it's first real talking point when Oakley got on the end of a fantastic through ball by centre back Idris Kamara; rounding Curtis Meare in the home goal the Woodley striker was bought down just outside the box. With the a clear goal scoring opportunity denied, the hosts were reduced to ten men. Greg Beckett took the resultant free kick and fired just over.

Making the most of their numbers advantage, United laid siege to the home goal. Oakley dragged a shot wide whilst Dave Morgan tested substitute goalie Conor Chivers.

Woodley got the opening goal on thirty two minutes when Oakley clinically finished after getting on the end of a nice Morgan pass.

However the sides went in all square at the break when a crisply hit shot by captain Matt Cheetham took a deflection and found the left corner.

United started the half well. Oakley narrowly missed connecting with a low Beckett cross before the latter missed to the right after cutting in from the left wing.

The pressure eventually paid dividends when Nicholls got his first for the club courtesy of a free kick. Chivers got a hand to it but couldn't keep it out and it went in off the right post.

A rare chance for the hosts followed; a hooked Lewis Thompson effort was saved by Spencer Meredith in the Woodley goal.

More United opportunities followed; a lovely move involving Nicholls, Beckett and Morgan ended with the latter shooting just over.

On the hour Woodley had a golden chance to increase their advantage when Oakley squared to Abdul Kamara; with the goal at his mercy the United midfielder blazed over.

At the other end Robertson who got a brace when the sides last met saw a curling effort miss to the left.

Oakley headed wide a Teddy Thomas cross whilst Beckett saw a shot saved in the left corner after a fine run as Woodley sought to kill off the game. The resultant corner was taken short to Morgan, who in turn found Nicholls who picked out Beckett who missed to the left.

With fourteen minutes left, United made a change when Toby Briggs replaced Thomas. This saw Oakley move to the right wing and Briggs play centrally.

The final stages of the match saw the hosts have their best spell. Substitute Ashton Gleed just missed with a header whilst a Robertson effort from the left went over.

Woodley made another change with six minutes to go. Liam Wilson came on for Oakley.

The final chance of a game dominated by United saw Briggs test Chivers following a left wing corner.

In injury time Woodley made their final change when Morgan made way for Jamie Smith.
