Woodley United's preparation for the 2015/16 season continued tonight when they welcomed Mortimer FC from the Thames Valley Premier Division to Cantley Park.
Manager Phil Norville made seven changes to the side that lost to Sheerwater at the weekend.
The game started evenly with Woodley maintaining possession much better than they did at the weekend. Andres Rodriguez and Carlton Cox who were both making their first pre-season appearances looked very composed on the ball.
Despite United shading possession in the early stages it was the visitors who produced the games first real opportunity; Woodley keeper Harry Stiff had to be at full stretch to turn behind a looping shot from eighteen yards. At the other end an Aaron Lopez volley was well saved by the Mortimer goalkeeper.
Just past the half hour mark and United went ahead when Jordan Goddard curled in a free kick from the right touchline after a foul on Conor Cregan. And it was Woodley who ended the half strongly; Rupen Limbu saw his header saved after making contact at the near post following a Goddard corner.

Two minutes after the restart and Woodley doubled their lead with the goal of the game. Limbu showed good strength to hold up the ball before laying it off to his fellow striker Michael Simpson who struck his shot sweetly from twenty yards in off the left post.
Mortimer halved United's lead seven minutes later when the visitors pulled one back from close range following a corner.
With both sides making a host of substitutions the game lost a bit of its flow mid way through the second period however it was Woodley who got their third when substitute Lemar Maycock showed electric pace to break clear of the Mortimer defence before coolly finishing with a low shot.
Moments later it was nearly four when the impressive Limbu headed against the underside of the bar following a Cox free kick on the left. The final action of an entertaining game saw Woodley midfielder Jay Welch head off his own line after another Mortimer set piece.
