Woodley United continued their preparation for the 15/16 season with a friendly against a strong Highmoor Ibis side. The game was played in hot conditions and consisted of three thirty minute periods.
It was Highmoor who started well and deservedly took the lead when a right wing cross was turned home from very close range after seven minutes. United equalised just before the first break when left winger Rupen Limbu was bought down on the edge of the box. Josh Blackwood's free kick was spilt by the Ibis goalie, allowing Woodley forward Seun Odusanya to pounce on the rebound and level.
Into period two and Woodley were playing some nice stuff and looking dangerous when going forward. Odusanya picked out Blackwood with a right wing cross; the latter struck his effort well only to see it blocked by a Highmoor defender who was practically on his goal line. Mid way through the game and United took the lead when a low Blackwood drive from 25 yards found the bottom left corner.
At the other end Harry Stiff pulled off a decent save diving low to his right to stop a shot from the left before Highmoor levelled on the hour mark. A short corner from the right was volleyed into the top corner from the right side of the six yard box.
The third period saw Woodley dominate possession without finding a breakthrough. Their best chance fell to Blackwood who saw his shot from the right side of the box well saved.
