Cental midfielders Cashin-Murray and Barham inspire Town to 2nd round win.

Andres Rodriguez Gutirrez made his debut for Town whilst fellow Spaniard Victor Martinez Murillo made his first start after featuring as a sub last week.

The hosts started well, Woodley skipper Gary Smith had to clear with a diving header following a cross from the right. Eight minutes in and Town were starting to play some nice stuff. An Adam Cashin-Murray layoff was picked up on the right by Martinez Murillo who switched the play to Doug Groves whose ball into the box was cleared by the home side.

Martinez Murillo who was dangerous all game cut in from the right before getting his shot away, the shot lacked power and was comfortably turned behind by Colin Jordan in the Clanfield goal. The resulting corner by Cashin-Murray was headed over by Woodley forward Seun Odusanya.

Just after the ten minute mark Clanfield went ahead. A deep free kick by Adam Smith into the Town box resulted in Woodley keeper Dan Smith missing his punch on the penalty spot, the ball found its way to Jamie MacDonough who tapped in. Clanfield continued to press, minutes later MacDonough nearly got his second but missed to the right after a cross from Simon Oakley.

Town were passing the ball well; a sweeping move saw Odusanya hold up the ball 15 yards into the Clanfield half before passing to Martinez Murrillo who dribbled forward before letting Cashin-Murray take over; Cashin-Murray's shot from 22 yards was fantastically tipped over by Jordan.

Cashin-Murray whose movement was causing the hosts all kinds of problems drew a foul 28 minutes in. He took the free kick himself but the shot was comfortably saved. Down the other end an Adam Smith free kick was scrambled clear. Town who conceded from a deflection last week, nearly equalised from one this week. Another Cashin-Murray effort glanced off a Clanfield body and just missed to the right with Jordan left stranded. The corner that followed found Sam Barham who toe poked straight at Jordan.

Thirty five minutes in and Cashin-Murray was shown a yellow before a long stoppage in play due to a Gary Smith injury. Woodley continued to play some great football. A nice move started by a lovely Barham flicked pass ended when Jordan cut out a Martinez Murillo cross. Town pressed on looking for an equaliser. Rodriguez Gutirrez had a shot blocked following a set piece then three minutes before the break a move involving Barham and Groves ended with Cashin-Murray hitting the left post with a sweetly struck drive from outside the box.

Town finished the half with two more chances. Firstly Steven Campbell saw an effort miss to the right following a Cashin-Murray through ball then Martinez Murillo failed to test Jordan with a shot from distance. That ended a half that saw Town create a lot of chances but trail at the break.

Half Time Clanfield 1-0 Woodley Town

The home side started the second half with a bit of pressure. Dan Smith got up well to punch clear another Adam Smith set piece then a nice run down the right by Clanfield full back Jack Ellis resulted in a good cross that should have been turned in by a red shirt.

Town's first opportunity after the break fell to Groves. A fantastic run by Martinez Murillo ended with a pass to the former. His first effort was saved well then amazingly both rebounds were blocked. Ten minutes into the second half and Town made their first change. Tafari Downes replaced Matt Brookling. Three minutes later Town levelled the game when Odusanya scored from a tight angle on the left after a Cashin-Murray shot was saved in the bottom corner. Moments later Town nearly went ahead. A nice move started by Cashin-Murray saw good link up play by Downes and Martinez Murrillo, the latter delivered a near post cross that was cut out before Campbell could head home.

Just past the hour Steven Campbell was booked for a foul on the half way line. Town's pressure continued, a cross from the right only just missed Odusanya's head then Martinez Murillo cut in from the right and tested Jordan with a decent effort. Twenty minutes to go and Rodriguez Gutirrez was cautioned before Groves was replaced by Pete Wareing.

The third goal of the game saw Town take the lead for the first time. Sam Barham who had an influential afternoon in the middle of the park nutmegged his man on the left flank before drawing a foul. Cashin-Murray's free kick found Gary Smith at the back post who powerfully headed into the far corner. Before Clanfield could kick off Town made their final change. Odusanya made way for Keyron Hylton.

Clanfield were struggling to get out of their own half and when they finally did they created a half chance. A nice move ended with sub Benji Williams rushing his shot on the left side of the box and blazing over. With the game in the final ten minutes the hosts had a fantastic chance to force extra time. James Flemming's pass found Ollie Hawkins on the left side of the six yard box; with the goal at his mercy he completely missed his kick and the ball rolled behind for a goal kick.

Town continued to try and get the third goal that would put the game to bed. A lovely ball down the wing by left back Matt Molloy to Campbell resulted in the cross being scrambled clear with Wareing looking to pounce. Town sealed victory three minutes from time when Campbell slotted home after Hylton set him up following a Cashin-Murray corner.

The final bit of action saw Downes race across the pitch to win possession before passing to Barham who was again fouled. This saw tempers flare both on and off the pitch with the Clanfield manager having a lengthy chat with the referee and Barham getting booked. After the delay the whistle was blown and Town were into the next round.
