After a nervous start that saw a goal conceded in the second minute to a Craig Faulconbridge header at a retaken corner and the same player hit the cross bar eight minutes later.
The opening twenty minutes remained one – nil due to good goal keeping by Richard Wilkinson that included blocks from Faulconbridge and Jamie Essex but once Town’s wide men Chace Jewell and Jez West eased their way into the match the visitors gave one of their best overall team performances in recent weeks.
West headed directly to home keeper Ben Taunton while the tricky Jewell’s cross narrowly evaded Adam King before Town were punished from another set piece when Stuart Braun scored from close range as the defence was static at a free kick.
Within four minutes Town had a corner that Jewell took and Jordan Goddard drove home for his first senior goal.
West’s influence saw him find King only for the forward to lose his footing in front of goal and also pass to Alleyne but the ball was under hit and bounced of the heal of the midfielder.
The second half started as the first ended with Town passing and moving well and Alleyne heading over from a Goddard free kick. However, against the run of play Chinnor scored a third with a long ball on sixty one minutes and followed this up from another set piece two minutes later.
However, Town were not deterred and continued to take the game to Chinnor with Alleyne, Lee Wheeler and Goddard instrumental in midfield. In fact such was their dominance that Chinnor reverted to the long ball so as to bypass Town’s midfield.
With fifteen minutes remaining youth player Harry Neate was given his first team debut and acquitted himself well.
