Following good work by stand in keeper Craig Blissett due to Ashley Smith's late arrival Ryan Kingsbeer opened the scoring for Town after six minutes.
Smith took over in goal after ten minutes and Town extended their lead on eighteen, when Iain Graham broke down the right flank and shot across goal. Tyronne Maye kept the ball in play and pulled it back to Simon Griffiths to slot past the keeper.
At this stage Town were in the ascendency but sloppy play set in allowing New College to control the midfield and reduce the deficit on the half hour when Smith was exposed one on one and chipped. Ten minutes later New College were level when they reacted first to a shot rebounding of the cross bar.
Things went from bad to worse after the break with two further goals conceded in the opening four minutes of the restart.
However, a change of formation, player positions and positive play by teenagers Jordan Goddard, Benji Palmer and Oli Barnett saw the start of the come back.
Barnett scored on the hour from close range when his down ward header, from a Dan Watkiss corner, went in off his own knee. Five minutes later a Lemar Maycock run and shot down the right flank levelled the scores.
Both teams had chances to win with Town finishing the stronger and the home keeper making two outstanding saves, one full length from Ish Thomas's shot.
