Town’s final pre-season match followed the same pattern as the previous game with the team taking a first half two goal lead, to fall behind and then draw the match.
Against Reading Senior Division Taplow Utd, Town started well with Danny Isaiew and Shane Maskell lively upfront while Gareth Davies comfortable at centre back.
Two goals in seven minutes midway through the half by Maskell gave Town the lead. The first on twenty two minutes was a low shot past keeper Dan Tillson while the second six minutes later was a direct free kick from twenty yards.
Five minutes before half time Taplow pulled one back when Davies faced with two forwards following a long clearance did well to hold play up but in the absence of support the ball ran free for a forward to slot past Ashley Smith giving the visiting keeper little chance.
Sixty minutes into the game Town cleared a corner to the edge of their penalty area for only for an opponent to drive the ball back through a crowd of players into the net. This was followed fifteen minutes later when Smith was beaten in a one on one situation.
Town rallied an it was fitting that Maskell should complete his hat trick when he lobbed Tillson with five minutes remaining in the game.
