After Wednesday’s defeat to Ascot United, Town travelled to Combined Counties Division One members Epsom Athletic and came away pleased with a clean sheet but disappointed at not having won.
Starting sprightly down the slope, Danny Isaiew twice had the ball in the back of the net in the opening five minutes, with a shot and a header only to be given off side on both occasions. Epsom responded with the next twenty minutes being a physical affair littered with free kicks as the home side put pressure on Town and prevented the visitors from breaking out of their own half. With Ashley Smith in good form and the defence standing firm Epsom were slowly pushed back as Town were able to force a series of corners, one of which saw Dwayne Winter hit the cross bar.
However, it was Epsom who went closest to scoring but for Simon Rush clearing of the Town goal line from a corner with the last kick of the first half.
The second half saw Town have the better of it and will feel they should have won with Winter and Michael Alleyne both finding themselves in good positions but either failing to convert of being flagged off side.
With good individual performances and players getting a better understanding of one another the squad is slowly but surely beginning to take shape.
