Match Reports 4th March 2017
Berkshire Youth Development League

Woodley United U8 Spitfires v Henley Lions U8 Black

The pre-match team talk was held as a collective. The players had the opportunity to tell the coaches how they wanted to go out and play football against Henley Lions.

The first 5 minutes proved that both teams were very well matched especially in their positioning. Not a single player from either side had lost their shape for the entire half which was delightful to see.

At half time the players were able to give feedback on how well both sides had lined up and decided to try and pass and move more and shouting to receive a pass when they were in space.

The second half the players went out and proved that they were able to carry out the task they had set themselves at half time showing great awareness of where their team mates were and tried building from the back to create an opportunity in front of goal.

Coaches Comments: A fantastic display of self discipline and composure when on the ball. They were all calm and relaxed in possession which helped with self confidence and a great team effort.

Effort of the match: Cole - He was our captain for todays game and he decided to start himself as a sub which showed he was picking positions for the sake of the team and not himself.

Player of the match: Dylan - Dylan made some absolutely fantastic saves in both halves and he is really starting to lead the team from in goal. He is motivating each individual and this is really paying off in the footballing displays.

Well Done Spitfires a fantastic all round display
