Woodley United is delighted to announce that on Sunday 19th May 2019 it will be hosting a charity football match in aid of Berkshire mental health charity Sport in Mind.
The match will take place during Woodley United’s end of season presentation day and see ‘Team Bing’ take on ‘Team Wright’ with both squads made up of locals from the area.
The charity Sport in Mind aim to improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity and the game aims to raise up to £500 to help those experiencing difficulty.
Co-Founder and Woodley United Sunday Manager Nathan Bingham said, “We’re all really excited about the match which promises to be an enjoyable occasion for players, family and friends while supporting a worthy local cause. The reaction to the idea has been really positive and we have already had a number of volunteers offer to support the day. Having the match during the presentation day means there will be good footfall across all age categories of Woodley United and we hope that many get involved on the day.”
Calum Pettitt, Development Officer at Sport in Mind commented, “Sport in Mind are delighted to be working with Woodley United Football Club. The funds raised will go directly into providing sports sessions for adults with mental health conditions in and around Berkshire. We are really excited about this event as it will help raise awareness of mental health and of the positive impact that physical activity can have on mental health.”
The charity match ‘Bing vs Wright’ has created its own website and social media handles which can be used for all the latest updates on the match. With planning an ongoing process stay tuned for more about what’s going on and how you can get involved.
