We caught up Woodley's leading goal-scorer post 2-0 victory over local rivals to get her thoughts on the game and more.

2-0 victory and third cleansheet in the past 4 games, sends Woodley to a good start of 2018. We caught up with Rosie Page-Smith after the game to get her thoughts, what to expect for the remainder of the season and objectives for what's yet to come.

First game back in 2018 with a victory against local rivals - what’s your thoughts on the game?

The first game back after a break can usually provide to be quite difficult for us. But i feel the score line doesn’t reflect our team performance, we played very well! We played well as a team and were creating lots of chances. Although they are a few small things that can be worked on; we will take that out of the game and then start working on it in training. Wokingham put a bit more pressure on us in the second half, but our back four had a very disciplined game and prevented them creating chances on the break.

Started the year like it finished with a victory against a local rival, what do you think it’s been the reason for this early success in the season?

Before Christmas we were getting some good results and we ended the year with a victory. Therefore taking that in to the new year was important for us. Our aim is to win some kind of silverwear this year, and we need the results and performances to do that. We knew the first game back would be important in kick start our year because we want to start as we mean to go on. Getting them 3 points were a massive buzz for us and now we hope to build on that in this week's game.

The team this year seem to be more comfortable in front of goal, and conceded less too - what does it come down to?

We seem to be converting a lot more chances this year and I feel this come downs to hard work at training but also the girls willingness to work for each other. We are a very close and well gelled team therefore it just clicks! There are many different people getting on the score board which is great to see. Hopefully this can continue throughout the rest of the season. Our defence have been very disciplined this year, they’ve created a great working bond. Nicole has also pulled of some fantastic saves and kept us in some of the games!

12 goals in 12 games, top goal scorer in the league - how are you and the team working for such stats?

We’re constantly working hard to create and convert chances in every game. We worked a lot on it in pre-season and now in our training sessions. Last year we weren’t finishing as many opportunities as we should’ve and I felt that sometimes it could’ve been the difference between winning or losing the game. This year is different and some of our score-lines show that. It’s great for me to have scored 12 in 12 but I’m going to continue to enjoy the game, score more goals and hopefully continue to keep hold of the top spot!

Barton Next, only team to have beaten you this year who play at the same level. What’s the expectations for this week’s cup game?

Barton have always been a big game for us whether it’s in a league game or cup! It’s always a good and competitive and we love that. This is a game we want to win, the score line against them at the start of the season is behind us! We just need to continue doing what we are doing, working hard for each other and I have no doubt that we won’t come out as second best. The fact they beat us last time out, makes us even more hungry for success.

We ask this everyone, and certainly our favourite - what’s your individual expectations and team expectations for the year?

I think the expectations now are obvious, we want to get some kind of silverware this year. We’re in great form, and I think we deserve it and our performances show that! We all want something to show that hard work does pay off! We’ve got the opportunity and the capability to do this and I’m confident we can.
