We caught up with Woodley Ladies's Number 1, Nicole, post the Ascot game away, where the sky blues came victorious with a great 4-1 victory. The United keeper was unfortunate to have conceded a goal in the 90th from 35 yards out, after a set of comfortable saves and the save of the day with a diving full stretch save in the air. This was Woodley's 5th Cup game in the same amount of weekends.

Great victory against a good team top of the league in the division above, tell us more about the game?
Ascot were a great opponent to come against in the cup. We knew the history with them, what they were and are capable of. For us we wanted to end the game early so going in at half time 2-0 up took the pressure off. We came out second half, relaxed on the ball and had majority of the possession so it was an enjoyable afternoon.

Great cup successes, games in hand in the league and still chasing top spot. What's been the reasons for such good start?
We have had an excellent pre season. Each player gives 100% in training and it reflects on pitch each week. The coaches work extremely hard to get the best out of us so it’s great to give them something back. The girls support and encourage one another each week, so it’s all going well for us.

New position for you this year, and very different from your previously one in the team. How you finding it?
I’m loving it! When I first started football about 13 years ago I started in goal. My brother Liam used to play in goal so he loved teaching me and my sister Mollie. Personally for me it’s the most rewarding position to play. Marc is a great coach. He has taught me a lot and has been amazing! He pushes me every training week but it pays off in the games.

What's been your highlight so far as a Goalkeeper?
So far it’s been the FA cup game against Oxford. I knew I would be tested a lot throughout the 90 minutes so it was great to be involved in a lot of the action that day.

We have seen you have some great games; A great save against Ascot today, and a few critical ones against Wargrave & Alton, what does it come down to the rapid adaption?
Marc has played a big part in helping me adapt to my new position. It’s good for me to get 1-1 with him each training session. He gets me working on different exercise each week and gives me a lot of advice. We speak after the game and at training about my performance on Sundays so I get a lot of feedback from him. The girls have also been a great, I get lots of support and praise from them and also from the supporters which gives me a lot of confidence.

Same question as we asked to others, what's your personal and team achievements for the season?
Personal achievement is to get as many clean sheets as possible. For me that’s important. As a team we want silverware it’s as simple as that. We are looking to win as much as possible this season.

The ladies were due to play Fleet Town Ladies, again in another cup competition, but this game has now been Postponed. The next fixture will see Woodley Utd Ladies travel to Wokingham for another local derby with Wokingham & Emmbrook on the 29th October.
