We caught up with Holly Wilkins, post 3-0 Victory against Wycombe Ladies, where the team progress into the Semi-Final of the Berks&Bucks Cup

We caught up with Woodley's left back, Holly Wilkins, after a superb individual performance, highlighted in the match report, which helped the team get a cleansheet, with key blocks and clearances against a difficult Wycombe side.

Great victory today, 3-0 win in such a prestige competition against a tough Wycombe side, give us your thoughts on the game?

Coming in to the game, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy, Wycombe had a good result against Barton last weekend so we knew we had to be up for this. We didn’t get off to the best start but it was good to get the first goal under our belts. We fought hard and dirty all game and I think that definitely helped lead us to the victory today.

As a defender, a cleansheet is the same as a striker putting it in the back of the net, what did it come down to today for you and the rest of the defence?

If I look back to the start of the season, our back four has come such a long way when you compare it to the game today. Our defence was compact and disciplined, we all worked for each other and that’s what you need to help lead us to our victory. Credit where credit is due, Nicole was superb in goal today, she made two fantastic saves, and the clean sheet is a bonus on top of the victory.

You girls looked fired up and the spirit as a team looked to be high, what does that come down to?

We had a tough game against Barton a couple of weekends ago, it was a big wake up call and we knew we couldn’t let slip again. If we want to achieve big things this season we’ve got to want it. I think we definitely showed today that we were hungry to stay in the County Cup.

2nd victory against Wycombe this year, in 2 cup competitions. Next Sunday you face Wycombe for the 3rd time, but in the league instead. What’s your views on that game?

We’ve definitely got to put those wins behind us and not become complacent, complacency won’t win us the game next weekend. We need to work hard at training and make sure we are ready for next Sunday. I have every belief we will make it 3 wins over Wycombe if we play how we played today.

Semi Final of the Berks&Bucks Competition, still in the League Cup, Jubilee cup and League, what’s your view on the season so far?

At the start of the season we said we wanted to win some silverware, to still be in all of those cups reflects how hungry we are to achieve our goal. The season has been great, to reach the third round of the FA Cup was a massive achievement and such an experience. We’ve fought hard in the league and the cups, I really do believe we will achieve silverware this season. We know we still have a long way to go but if we continue performing the way we did today, we will be tough to beat.

Our favourite question, and one we ask everyone, what’s your individual expectations and team expectations for the year?

My individual expectations match the teams expectations, we had a complacent season last year, we didn’t win any silverware. It would be great to win some silverware this season and really reflect the hard work we have put in.

Next week, the team travel away to Wycombe, to face them for the 3rd time this season, and 1st time in the league. Certainly a game to keep a close eye.
