United Defender, Ruth Person, gives her views on the game against local rivals, Wokingham&Embrook, and her views on the warm welcome from the team

Following Sunday's victory against Wokingham & Embrook, we caught up with Ruth Pearson, who unfortunately missed the game through injury. However her love for football couldn't keep her away and she was down to support the team.

Unfortunately missed out today's game through injury, but came to support the team on a cold Sunday afternoon, what's your view on today's performance?

The team performance today was very positive and encouraging especially because you could really tell that the things we've been work on in training lately seem to be sinking in. Because of this we looked creative and we gave ourselves plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net and the opposition struggled to contain us. I was also impressed by the way the girls managed the game, we looked in control throughout despite windy conditions, and a few decisions that didn't go our way.

7-2 win and convincing victory, what did it come down to after last week's performance?

We looked like a different team compared to last week's first half performance, after a two week break we just didn't switch on fast enough and by the time we actually woke up second half we had already given ourselves too much to do and I think we were all bitterly disappointed in ourselves. This week was a completely different story we were much more cohesive as a unit and everybody looked up for it, sprinting to make balls, working for eachother when we didn't have the ball and our movement off the ball looked sharp. I think last week was probably still in the back of our heads and we knew we had to make up for it, and that's a good thing.

As a newcomer, how have you found coming into the team?

Playing football has always been a massive part of my life, the benefits both health wise and socially are something that I value highly so when I moved to the area a couple of months ago finding a new team was top of my to-do list. Being part of a successful and aspirational gives you something to be really proud of, so as someone who takes my football seriously but at the end of the day enjoys sharing the experience with friends Woodley has ticked all the boxes for me.

Berks&Bucks Competition next week? Can we expect you to be fit and ready to go?

I really hope I can be fit by next Sunday. It's gutting to have to sit out training and not be available for games but as I've got older I've found it's important to listen to your body. It's silly to play through the pain if it's going to put you out for longer so, training Thursday will be the deciding factor for me if I feel good then I definitely want to be out there helping the team progress to the next round.

Playing against Wycombe, a side you played earlier this year in a cup competition, what do you expect from the game?

We will definitely be going out there for the win, we're hungry for silverware but I expect Wycombe will have a point to prove after our last meeting. Overall I'm confident we can repeat the win, we have strikers in good form and a squad with strength in depth so when we play to our potential we're a great team to watch and a very tricky opponent.

We asked this question to everyone and expect no different - what your individual and team expectations for the year?

As a team, like I said we're hungry for silverware, we have high expectations of ourselves and we want other teams to know that if they want to beat us they'll have to do it the hard way. Individually my main goals are to get back to full fitness and top form.

The team will host Wycombe Ladies at the Pavillion in the quarter finals of the Berks&Bucks cup on Sunday 19th November, with a 2:00pm Kick off.
