Halloween hangover in the fog!

In many ways this was a rerun of the previous week’s match with United enjoying good possession, creating plenty of chances, but punished when giving possession away and hit on the counter attack.

A slow start by the home team saw them two down within the opening six minutes with Annie Gadsby scoring both and she could have completed here hat trick in the eleventh minute when she robbed Gemma Bloor of possession only to fire over the cross bar.

Having survived the horror show start, United sought a foothold with Jess Grimmett making her presence felt with a header wide from a corner and later a shot easily handled by MK ‘s keeper Amy Butler.

The good recovery was undone with when United reacted to an off side flag by stopping only for the ball to fall to on side Catalina Costas who scored one on one with Bonnie Messitt to increase the lead.

At the other end United feel to an offside when Daniele Perryman put an excellent free kick into the MK penalty area and shortly afterwards Rosie Page-Smith tested Butler. However, United’s inability to defend a second cross from a corner allowed Gadsby to complete her hat trick after thirty six minutes play.

United responded well with Ellen Surtees’ cross handled in the penalty area two minutes later and Page-Smith slotted the penalty kick away.

The second half saw United enjoy good possession with Grimmett and Page-Smith having several attempts at goal and good passing being show but it still needed Sabrina Kulan and Holly Wilkins to clear shots of their own goal line and Messitt to twice save well to keep the deficit to three goals.

The scoring was completed with MK City’s last kick of the game by Costas broke free for another one on one opportunity deep into stoppage time,
