Two goals either side of half time were the undoing of the Ladies in this league clash and in truth were unlucky to go into the break a goal down in a half where they had used the pitch well and enjoyed good possession in the visitors half of the pitch. However, where United’s shots at goal were easily dealt with United’s Emily Sherwood had to make the better saves.
However, Sherwood was unable to prevent the lively Katie Randall opening the scoring with a chip from outside the penalty area five minutes before half time.
Town started the stronger after the restart and Sherwood was called on to make two blocks in quick succession in one on one situations but was unable to prevent Lianne Hill extending the lead when she intercepted a wayward pass after fifty minutes.
United were equal to Town for the remainder of the game but despite their best efforts notably from Bonnie Messitt, Rosie Page-Smith and sub Charlie Tippett they were unable to reduce the deficit.
