The absence of a number of first teamers enabled several of United’s younger players to show their ability at this level and none disgraced as the team was worthy of a point, if not a win given a first half display that saw both posts hit and several headers put over the cross bar.
The first chance fell to the impressive Holly Wilkins on the left flank who with just Bracknell’s custodian Jo Anderson to beat hit the woodwork on five minutes with Louise Thompson heading over five minutes later.
It was against the run of play that Bracknell opened the scoring on sixteen minutes when ex United Sarah Davern’s corner was cleared to the edge of Woodley’s penalty area where Tina Leah’s low shot squirmed inside debutant Miranda Lane’s left post.
United responded with Rachel Panting hitting the woodwork before the same player levelled half way through the half in similar fashion to the opening goal which followed her shot from the edge of the vistor’s penalty area following a corner.
Such was United’s dominance with Thompson and Morgan Merryweather strong in midfield and Rosie Page-Smith dangerous on the right flank that it was again against the run of play when Davern restored Town’s lead in a half that saw Lane have little other action over than to pick the ball out of the net.
The second half was a more even affair with the experience of Jess Grimmett and Katie Hardie at the back proving invaluable and the match was deservedly levelled when Panting’s header wide to sub Louise Williamson enable the forward to cut in from the right and fire past Anderson on the hour.
The home side enjoyed good possession in dangerous areas but failed to test Anderson while Lane handled well when called upon and Lisa Phillips making a telling tackle in the home penalty area late in the game.
