Woodley United Ladies return to winning ways after their FA Women’s Cup defeat of last week to make four wins from four league starts to remain in second place on goal difference in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division.
Against pointless Aldershot Town, United were rarely troubled and as early as the second minute stated their intention when Jess Grimmett was able to run from distance only to shoot wide. Comfortable in possession the Ladies continued to press but It was not until the twenty second minute that they scored the opening goal when Laura Woodley cut in from the right to fire inside the far post past Natasha Wright.
The lead was doubled two minutes from half time when Kirsty Parfitt scored her first for the team when she shot home from close range following a goal mouth melee that followed a United corner.
The home side started the second half the stronger, enjoying more possession in the Woodley half without threatening the visitors goal but the match was effectively over on fifty five minutes when Jo Walsh-Perks ran at the home defence before finding Woodley who scored her second beating Wright low inside the left post. Three minutes later Woodley completed her hat trick when unmarked her glancing header, from Nicola Froud’s free kick hit the net.
Parfitt scored her second on seventy five minutes when she converted into an empty net a cross from the right that evaded the home defence before she and Grimmett in attempting for clear Aldershot attacks force saves from their own keeper Phillips.
Woodley’s fourth was identical to her third with another glancing header from a Froud free kick on eighty seven minutes before Sian Houghton-North scored the home team’s consolation from a corner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
