Woodley started the match with a quick tempo that saw Pippa Humphreys have a shot parried clear by the home keeper Chelsea Coles in the first minute and Kate Hudson shooting wide.
This was followed by Sarah Lawrence opening the scoring a minute later in a move that started with Gemma Simms heading the ball back to goal keeper Sophie Cheadle before a multi-pass move saw the ball given to May Hamblin whose low cross from the left was turned into the net by Lawernce in the penalty area.
Lawrence was to cause the home team problems thought out the game with her pace and direct running at goal and forced Coles into a save in the sixth minute.
A minute later Katie Riddlington out run the United defence but Cheadle block the shot to be followed by ex-Woodley player Sarah Devern shooting wide.
Despite these two attempts at goal United continued to be positive but were unable to capitalise on the chances being created and conceded the equalising goal in the twenty third minute. Sophie Altfield got the better of Charley Evans in a tackle and before passing to the edge of the penalty area where United failed to defend the looping cross which Emma Newberry was able to steer into Cheadle’s far right hand top corner of the goal.
Both sides proceeded to make a number of first half substitutions which impacted the game’s tempo and both teams went into half time level.
United started the second half as they did the first with Lawrence involved in much of the play and debutant forward Tina Brett positive in seeking to bring surrounding players into the game when she had possession.
Woodley thought they had retaken the lead in the sixty seventh minute when Saj Turner turned Lauren Devlin’s cross into the net only for the goal to be disallowed for a hand ball offence.
Wycombe’s first shot on goal in the half was comfortable dealt with by Cheadle with seven minutes of normal time remaining. With neither side able to break the deadlock full time resulted in the points being shared.
