Woodley United Ladies lead Southern Region’s Women’s Football League Premier Division following a three-nil win at bottom side Newbury.

What few chances the visitors created were dangerous with forward Rosie Page-Smith firing over from distance, Sarah Thompson firing wide in a crowed penalty area and Page-Smith seeing a one on one with home keeper Katherine Brown cleared.
Page-Smith was involved in the opening goal when she and Eva Thomas shared passed before the left winger’s cross finding Jodie Penny unmarked to fire home from ten yards.
Three minutes later the lead was doubled when Thompson had time to fire low to Brown’s right and inside the far post.
United started the second half with purpose and good pressure that saw Brown catch a Maddie Sawyer shot and a series of corners won as Newbury struggled to get out of their own half. The pressure was rewarded on sixty three minutes when Sawyer’s shot from a tight angle on the right hit Brown’s left upright to go into the net.
Substitute Mollie Lambourne twice went close from distance while another sub Becs Lowes had a goal disallowed for a foul in the build-up play.
