Two goals in three first half minutes secure the win over local neighbours Wargrave as Ladies go second in the league.

In the first home fixture of the season which saw Woodley Utd and Wargrave start the at high tempo with chances for both teams to score, setting the scene for the rest of the afternoon.

Early in the game, Woodley's front three put opposition's back four and goalkeeper to the test with a number of chances to go in front on the scoreline, however it wasn't until the 11th minute with Ward through ball that saw last year's team top goalscorer Page-Smith put in the back of the net with a smooth striker underneath the keeper.

In quick succession, in the 13th minute, Haines extends the lead to 2-0 with an outside of the box strike over the keeper following a pass from Page-Smith.

Woodley United enjoyed a short spell of chances to extend the lead by a great exchange of passes through the team, including a great through ball from Sawyer to find Paige-Smith out wide who's crossed was narrowly missed by Hamblin, however it was Wargrave in the 20th minute came close to reducing the lead, by a disallowed goal due to offside.

From there on it was a very close game until half time, with Woodley close to extending the lead and Wargrave working to reduce Woodley's advantage to just 1 goal, and it was Wargrave who just before half time sees number 9 break free from a Woodley United corner, but sees her shot blocked by both right back, Edwards and centre back, Ward.

Half Time: Woodley Utd 2-0 Wargrave

Second half started with strong pouring rain, and making it difficult for both teams to play attractive football, and it become more of a physical and fair battle for possession. A tactical and very close second half, saw both teams have opportunity to come close with a number of set pieces for either side being the closest method of scoring. 55mins sees introduction of young Clarke in the game for number 10 Radountcheva.

Midway through the second half, sees Wargrave make a few tactical changes, and sees Wargrave's number 7 have a few one-on-one situations with home goalkeeper, Haines, but to no avail. A busy second half saw Woodley's number one pull a number of excellent saves to keep goal clear, couple by a number of last minute blocks by the back 4, led by Captain Surtees saw the team grow in confidence for the cleansheet, Danger seeking Woodley's goal, sees a tactical change with the reintroduction of Radountcheva after 70 mins to replace Hamblin, who 5 mins late returns to the field to replace Clarke and saw Masterr) drop into the back 4 to deal with the pace from Wargrave's front players.

However it wasn't until the 78th minute that Woodley came close to extending the lead to 3-0, which saw Page-Smith hit the far post on a cross the goal shot, with May Hamblin following with a shot wide.

The last opportunity came through Wargrave's most dangerous player of the afternoon, number 7 with a strike at goal from a tight angle which was stopped once again by Nicole Haines.

Final whistle soon came, and saw the home team collect all 3 points and cleansheet in their first home fixture of the season,
